Award-winning journalist Amy Goodman, host of the daily, grassroots, global, radio/TV news hour Democracy Now!, is on a national speaking tour to mark DN!'s 12th anniversary and launch her third book with journalist David Goodman, Standing Up to the Madness: Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times.

Amy documenting the statue of George H.W. Bush at the Houston airport named after him, while racing to catch a flight. We had just finished the Democracy Now broadcast in which we played a speech given by the late former Texas Governor Ann Rchards. She died Wednesday night at the age of 73. Known for her scathing wit, she captured national headlines with her line from her keynote speech at the 1988 Democratic National Convention: "Poor George. He cant help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."
